Flowserve is seeking a Cost Accountant to own inventory and cost accounting for the Coimbatore plant, ensuring compliance with USGAAP, Local GAAP, and company revenue policies while supporting cross-functional operations in margin analysis and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost sheets and product-wise profitability statements.
• Track monthly Percentage-of-Completion (POC) progress as per revenue policy and IndAs.
• Analyze product costs from the bidding stage through sales recognition, providing timely updates to management on margin variances.
• Explore and analyze root causes for low-margin products and propose process changes to improve margins.
• Review existing costing processes and procedures, suggest changes, and establish new processes in line with cost accounting rules and internal policies.
• Review information provided by operations to use as a baseline on costs and margins for Percentage-of-Completion and Point-in-Time projects.
• Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Project Management, and Engineering to complete job responsibilities on a timely basis.
• Continuously review and analyze hourly rates, overheads, and absorption levels, reporting reasons for variances and suggesting improvements to reduce them.
• Analyze, compare, and report material consumption and production hours against plans/forecasts across overall products.
• Contribute to process improvements regarding all aspects of production cost accounting and related reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Low-Cost Margin, Excess and Obsolete, and Capitalization of Manufacturing Variances policies, ensuring proper and timely accruals.
• Perform SOX controls assigned to the area of responsibility.
• Maintain cost records as per CAS and ensure timely completion of Cost Audits.
• Manage the closure of the inventory module, inventory physical count metrics, discrete job (work order) closures, and job variances on closed WIP.
• Manage the closure of the project module, project cost cleanup, deferred revenue cleanup, unbilled revenue cleanup, and other ad-hoc requirements.
• Handle ad-hoc reporting requirements from management.

Requirements

• CMA with 3 years of experience, or CMA Inter with 5+ years of relevant cost accounting experience at manufacturing companies (engineering preferred).
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, material flows, and related order accounting systems and processes.
• Analytical mindset with a high affinity for numbers, a willingness to work with detail, and the ability to work independently to solve complex costing issues.
• Knowledge of Oracle (advantageous) or exposure to other ERP systems.
• Sound knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
• Good command of written and spoken English, along with strong presentation skills.
